EUPATI Fundamentals is a training about Patient Engagement addressed to professionals in academia and pharmaceutical industry. EUPATI Fundamentals’ mix of practical and classroom learning guides professionals through the processes of engaging patients throughout medicines development providing a strong foundation for successful partnership with patients and patient organisations. The focus of the course remains basic knowledge about patient involvement with an overall introduction to standards and best practices, and a library of practical exercises.

    • Module 1: Principles of patient engagement
      Understand the reasons and benefits for patient engagement in medicines R&D
    • Module 2: Patient engagement roadmap
      Explain the needs and time points at which patient engagement should occur in medicines R&D
    • Module 3: Setting up a patient engagement activity
      Evaluate which types of interactions and patient profiles should be used at different stages of medicines R&D
    • Module 4: Quality criteria in patient engagement
      Identify and address challenges when operationalising patient engagement

What is the EUPATI Fundamentals training about?

The EUPATI Fundamentals is a training co-designed and co-delivered by patients and pharmaceutical experts about patient engagement. During this training, the following topics are covered:

  • Guiding principles of working with patients
  • How to identify patients to engage with
  • Quality criteria to plan and evaluate engagement projects
  • Opportunities for patient engagement across value-chain
  • Problem- and case-study-based learning

Information about the registration will be available about 2 months prior to the training on this page and via EUPATI’s social media channels.

How has the COVID-19 impacted the delivery of the training?

The EUPATI Fundamentals has been designed to be delivered in person with maximum of 25 participants. Due to the COVID-19 pandemia, EUPATI adjusted the training to a virtual format by adding breaks, sessions with interactions and case studies as well as preparatory reading to expedite the learning of the participants.

 

What are the other trainings that EUPATI provide to complement Fundamentals?

The EUPATI training portfolio in patient engagement consists of Fundamentals and Essentials. Participants who took the Fundamentals training, and are interested in acquiring specific knowledge for precise engagement projects, can look at the Essentials’ training and modules.
