EUPATI Fellows/Alumni

The EUPATI Patient Expert Training Programme graduates, EUPATI Fellows, form the EUPATI Alumni, which currently encompasses over 250 individuals. The Alumni represents different countries and disease areas and has demonstrated expert-level knowledge and understanding of the medicines R&D process.

The Alumni is active in e.g. patient organisations and providing advice to industry, regulator and HTA partners. They are also engaged in producing and reviewing new course and toolbox content for EUPATI, as well as co-delivering EUPATI trainings.

Impact of the EUPATI Patient Expert Training Programme

The impact of the EUPATI Patient Expert Training has been significant, evidenced by the leading roles in the debate on patient involvement in R&D the EUPATI Fellows have taken. The Alumni engages in e.g. advisory roles, act as trainers, are involved in health policy advocacy, speak at conferences, start community advisory boards, assist and advise patient organisations, improve informed consent documents, review trial protocols and contribute to trial designs.

Repeated surveys of experience and involvement of EUPATI Fellows after graduation, exploring the longer-term impact of the course, have documented the progress and impact of Fellows working as expert patients. These have shown that EUPATI Fellows are engaged in patient organisations and activities with industry, regulators and HTA bodies to a significantly higher degree after the course than prior to joining EUPATI.
